Baby Watch: Week 29

Again, something major changed with my belly during one afternoon.  On Tuesday, it was suddenly much bigger than my boobs!  It feels like the baby is so much higher now – like all above my belly button.

Week 29: July 30 – Butternut Squash – Average size: 15.2 -16.7 inches, 2.5-3.8 lb.

Boof was all about trying to get a piece of this squash.  She loves her veggies!

Maternity Clothes:  All maternity pants except my yoga pants, combination of maternity tops and regular tops.  Some of my regular tops are starting to feel uncomfortable or look stupid.  I have plenty of work tops, but sometimes I wish I had more casual/around the house tops that fit better.  I’ve bought a couple used ones lately, so I’ll be fine.  It’s just weird having such a limited wardrobe.

Sleep: I have to switch sides regularly, but aside from waking up to pee every night, I’m sleeping pretty well still.  Sometimes I wake up and my hips are burning so bad.  It always takes me a minute to figure out what hurts, and then I just roll to the other side and it’s fine.  I can’t imagine how I’d feel if I didn’t have a Snoogle.

Symptoms:  This was a heartburn-free week, which was so nice.  I can’t say that I really had any other symptoms.  I’m starting to get tired a little more easily, but that could just be the weight gain.  The weather has been unusually cool, and I’m not mad about that!

Workouts:  I did yoga, a 100 leg workout, and the elliptical twice.  I also did some major weeding a few nights of the week.  The side garden was FULL of tons and tons of weeds and we want to plant some blueberry bushes and hibiscus bushes, so I dug up and pulled out every week I could find.  I have to adapt even more of my yoga poses, but my teacher is great about giving me suggestions before or after class.

Good moments of the week:
The baby moves a TON in the evening when we finally are sitting down at night (which is never until about 930).  Sometimes I think he or she is trying to get out through my belly button.  We had dental appointments and my teeth and gums look great considering how much pregnancy can wreck them.  They bleed occasionally when I floss, but that is to be expected.

Food cravings:  I wanted pizza one night because Lo had a pizza in the car to take camping with him.  I made a cauliflower crust pizza that night and it was amazing.  So much so, that I made it again on Saturday night (I already had the cauliflower chopped from the first pizza, so I needed to use it).

What I miss: Sleeping though the night, wearing normal clothes, knowing how much I can eat before I’m too full, not having my belly rest on my thighs when I sit down, being able to keep up completely in yoga, pushing myself in workouts.

What I’m looking forward to:  Going home for my first shower (and probably the last visit home before the baby – which is just crazy).  Getting more stuff finished around the house.

Milestones:  My belly has surpassed my chest now.  I noticed the baby having hiccups for the first time over the weekend.  It was funny, but could definitely get irritating if it happens often.  It’s like a twitch that you can’t control.

This is what I see when I look down now:
