It’s Fall! And Dangles the Monkey

I’m so happy for Fall to come this year.  I feel a little ripped off by September though.  Not only did it only feel like it was a week and a half long, it was definitely more like summer than fall, with temps over 85 most days.  I was seriously longing for pants and long sleeve weather.  I didn’t have a large summer maternity wardrobe, and only liked about 20 percent of it.  It’ll be nice not having to slather Jenson in sunscreen, or keep him inside in the afternoon because it’s too hot until 5 p.m.  We did get a little cooler weather when we visited my family at the end of the month at least.  So October better feel like October the whole way through – none of that snow/rain-on-Halloween crap.

Of course, right as soon as the weather was getting milder in Ohio, we decided to head to Vegas to visit my sister’s family…in 100 degree temps.  But 100 degrees in the desert is way different than 100 degrees in Ohio.  Out there it feels like there is a heater on (funny story about that below*), but in Ohio, 100 degrees would leave you a sticky, sweaty mess within minutes.

*When we were getting off the tram in the Vegas airport at baggage claim, I overheard a guy say to his traveling companion “Why do they have the heat on?”  I looked at him like – oh my gosh…what did you just say?  Luckily, he didn’t catch my “you-are-a-complete-idiot” look.  That section/tunnel isn’t airtight because, um, a tram track runs through there, so obviously they aren’t going to cool it with a/c like they do the tram and baggage claim area, so it’s approximately the same temperature as outside.  Durr…I hope he brought some shorts with him.

So we returned from Vegas to decidedly Fall weather, and I’m not mad about it.  We had Jenson’s 2 year pics taken this week and it was actually pretty chilly and super windy while we were at the park.  I think she’s going to have some awesome pictures for us!  I snapped this one as we were walking out of the park because he was so adorable carrying his monkey.  The monkey was a gift from my sister when he was a baby – she knew it wasn’t age appropriate at the time (bead filled and bead eyes), but she said she could just picture him carrying it around as a toddler.  I found it and gave it to him the day we left for Vegas to take on the plane, and he loves it.  It was actually a huge help during the photo shoot, as he wasn’t warming up very quickly to having his picture taken, so we let him hold it for some, and used it to get his attention other times.
