July Julep Maven Review

I was really excited to get my  Julep Maven box for July.  I initially planned to skip July, but when the email came through showing the colors, I couldn’t.  I love the 3 main colors together, plus a bonus red, white, and blue?!

Julep is a boutique nail salon that offers a monthly subscription box for $19.99.  When you sign up, you take a style quiz and are assigned a style which will coordinate with the different box options.  Although you are given a style, you can choose which box you receive if you don’t like the colors of that style.  You can also cancel at any time or skip a month or two if you or your wallet needs a break.  A week before the box ships, you’ll get an email showing you the colors you’ll receive according to your style.  You’ll have about 3-4 days to log on to cancel, skip, or choose a different box.  You can also add on a polish or gloss to your box for just $4.99.  The retail price of the polish is $14.

July “It Girl” Box

  • Mila, charcoal, multi-colored glitter – this is a sheer glitter, great for just a light wash.  It looks more silvery under some light and colorful under other.
  • Kate, soft white pearl – it went on surprisingly opaque and smooth, compared to other white polishes I’ve used.  I only needed one coat for french tip.
  • Daphne, fresh seafoam green creme – this is such a pretty green.  It went on medium-opaque and was very smooth.  I could have gotten away with 1 coat, but I added a second just in case, which deepened the color to more of a dark teal (still love).  I topped it with Kate (white) on the tips and Mila (glitter) over Kate.
  • JULY BONUS! America-The Beautiful, shiny red with royal blue glitter and sterling silver stars.  I was excited to get this to use for the 4th of July.  It looked really cool on white tips.

Inspired by the info card in the Julep box, I used 2 coats of Daphne, Kate, and Mila together.  It’s been a week and this manicure still looks good.  I added a topcoat about every 2 days and had to add extra coats of Mila to the tips a few times, but it still lasted through 3-4 hours of sand volleyball this week, weeding, and a ton of typing on the computer.  The first picture below is the first day after just one glitter coat on the tips. The second below is after 5 days and extra coats of glitter on the tips.

I think I’ll skip August, unless the colors are amazing. I have plenty of colors to play around with for now.
