October Ipsy Glam Bag Review

Ipsy Glam Bag (formally MyGlam) is a beauty subscription program in which you receive 4-5 full-size or deluxe beauty products in a little cosmetic bag for $10 per  month.  When you sign up, you take a quiz so they can customize your Glam bag, but I don’t feel like things are very well customized for me.  You can cancel your subscription at any time, so it’s pretty low risk. I definitely prefer Birchbox though, for the same price.

I had stopped receiving MyGlam shipments, but I got an email that somehow convinced me to give it another try for October.  I shouldn’t have.  I wasn’t impressed and I received the ugliest lip color that I have ever put on my lips!  I had Kelley try it when she was over since her complexion is so much darker than mine, and it actually looked good when she layered it over a darker color, so I sent it home with her.  I did love the makeup bag that it came in though.

October MyGlam Items:

  • Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment ($32 for 2 oz) – This is supposed to make hair stronger, shinier, less frizzy, blah, blah.  I haven’t used it yet.  I’ll give it a shot, but with very fine, poker-straight hair and an oily scalp, I can’t really see this being something that would be great for me. (I do understand that oil doesn’t make hair oily, but I still expect it to be too heavy.
  • Coastal Scents Eye Shadow ($14.95 for 12 color palette) – Every color in the palette is decent except the pink, so at least it’s usable. I haven’t tried it yet.
  • Mirenesse Lip Bomb Glossy Lacquer Stain in Bomb 9 ($35.10) – This was the awful color.  It was pinkish mauvey.  On my lips, it looked like I threw up cotton candy.
  • Be A Bombshell Eye Liner ($14) – This is a marker eyeliner.  I tried it out one night just around the house and it was decent.  I’m not particularly good at putting this stuff on, but maybe I’ll get better.
  • theBalm What’s Your Type? “the body builder” Black Mascara ($19) – I haven’t used this yet, but I’m not picky with mascara usually, so it will probably be okay.

Disclosure:  I purchased the MyGlam subscription on my own and am under no obligation to post about it.  I am also under no obligation to keep getting the subscription, so I probably won’t.
