September Birchbox Review

The September Birchbox theme was Fall Fashion, which seemed quite appropriate, though the products don’t really fit the theme.  I think the spf beauty balm and the bright blue polish were more spring or summer options, but maybe that just because fall got cold pretty quickly in Ohio compared to some years.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription service for upscale beauty products.  For $10, you get a box with 4-5 generous samples including makeup, skincare, fragrance, body, and hair care. Wanna try Birchbox?  I’d love it if you used my referral invite: Click here.

September Birchbox Items: The price in parenthesis is the price for the full-sized product, the samples are pretty generously sized, if not full-size.

  • twistband™ Hair Tie 12-pack – I got a purple hair tie in the box and while I liked it because it also looked cute on my wrist, the ends did start to ravel after one wearing.  I wouldn’t pay full price for these. ($18 for 12)
  • Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25+ – I haven’t used this yet but its supposed to be used as a tinted moisturizer or foundation.  It does have 45+ spf, but I probably wouldn’t pay full price.  ($32)
  • Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – I’ve uses this scrub once and I really liked it.  It has very fine, but noticeable grit and it didn’t irritate my skin.  ($34)
  • Birchbox and Color Club® Custom Collection – I got the “Insta-This” color which is a bright, but darker blue.  I really liked it and wore it on my toes for a week.  It wouldn’t be a go-to color for me, but I really liked how it went on and it lasted long enough.  Plus, it’ll be the perfect color for patriotic nails.  ($8)
  • Fekkai Salon Technician Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner – I haven’t used this yet and I’m sure it will be fine, but I wouldn’t pay $25 for each bottle – I’d buy Aveda instead.  ($25 each)
  • The Brush Guard Variety Pack – I loved these.  They are little mesh covers that go over your brushes to keep the bristles together and clean(ish).  They’re great because I’m always throwing my brushed in a makeup bag and taking them with me.  I tried to order more, but they are currently out of order.  I think they’d be great christmas gifts for people who travel – especially at the price.  ($5.50 for 4 sizes)
