Thanksgiving 2015

Thanksgiving 2015

We visited my family over Thanksgiving since we aren’t going to get to go back for Christmas because it will be too close to my due date.  I don’t wish to deliver in Youngstown…  We decided at the last minute to head back on Tuesday night around Jenson’s bedtime so that he’d sleep in the car and we’d beat the normal Wednesday-before-Thanksgiving traffic.

It worked out perfectly because my niece had a basketball scrimmage that we got to go see Wednesday morning.  My other niece had a varsity bball game on Wednesday night, so we were able to go to that too.  Jenson was obviously thrilled because these games were for EmmaLydia.  He did really well considering it was a lot of sitting.  We just take lots of snacks and toys and he’s pretty entertained.  He was happy to be there with his aunt, uncle, and my parents too.  For the varsity game, the announcer plays music pretty much anytime play isn’t going on, and Jenson was a dancing machine.

While we were at the game, Boof helped herself to a bag of Thanksgiving rolls that were in a bag just alittle too close to the edge of the table.  My mom underestimated her athleticism.  As soon as we walked in the door, I knew she ate something she wasn’t supposed to.  She’s so obvious when she does something wrong.  She’s extra excited and barky.  I immediately started looking around and saw the bag for the rolls on the floor.  Funny thing is that she stashed at least one elsewhere in the house.  While I was putting Jenson to bed, she came in the room and was rooting around and ran downstairs with a roll in her mouth.  Lo was able to grab it from her, so she probably only ate 11 mini-rolls, instead of 12.  She was a little sluggish for the rest of the night, and even my dad refrained from sharing all of his food with her for the next day or two because of her overindulgence.  We called her “biscuit” for the rest of the weekend.

I didn’t take as many pictures on this visit as I would have liked…I just relaxed and hung out with family.  Jenson was too busy playing with his cousins for most of the weekend to even get any good pictures of him. His cousins are so much older than him, but they are great at playing with him and giving him tons of attention, and he just soaks it up completely.  He was happy to be reunited with Bones the Cat too – enough that he gave it a kiss.

Eating thanksgiving food, which probably just consisted of a roll, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and fruit for him.  I don’t really remember what he ate.  He did eat one candied carrot because we called it a “pie carrot”.  He said he liked it but wouldn’t eat another.

There was so much good food – my family goes above and beyond to make gluten-free dishes for get together whenever they can.  I think every single thing except the rolls and store bought pies were gluten-free.  Thanksgiving food has never been my favorite, so I never really care if things are gluten-free or not, but this year there was so much good food that it was awesome to be able to eat it all.  So I did.  Boof was hopeful that my mom would drop some turkey to go with the rolls that were probably still hanging out in her stomach, but no such luck.

He’s doing really well with drinking out of a regular cup lately when he’s in his seat.  He honestly barely spills anything.  I don’t know if it’s because he used this Reflo Smart Cup for a few months, but he likes feeling like a big boy with a real cup.  He’s constantly stealing my water glass and drinking out of it anyway.  Everyone in this house seems to prefer drinking from “Mommy’s water”, as my glass is constantly being hijacked.

He was happy to FaceTime with Max, Summer, and Gary one night too.

We headed home on Saturday afternoon around naptime, so it was a nice long visit, but it never seems quite long enough.  He has so much fun at Gramma and Pappap’s, and visiting with his aunts, uncles, and cousins who he doesn’t get to see very often.  Hopefully they’ll all be able to come visit us after the baby is born, but otherwise I’m sure we won’t get back home until February or so.
