Touch-a-Truck and JD Day of Play

Touch-a-Truck and JD Day of Play

I started this post a month ago, and then life got chaotic.  Nothing super-crazy, but we went to Vegas, Jenson turned 2, I re-purposed a tv stand into a play kitchen for Jenson the same week I was trying to get ready for his birthday party…so yeah…a little crazy.

This summer Jenson fell in love with tractors and trucks and motorcycles, and all of that boy stuff.  New Albany was hosting a touch-a-truck event, so we met a friend who used to work with Lo there.  Her son is about about 2 years older than Jenson and they love playing together (which means that Jenson just copies everything that Jaxson does).  He wasn’t that interested in sitting in any of the vehicles, but he would if Lo was in there with him.  They had tractors, trucks, emergency vehicles, and all kinds of fun stuff, and we got to meet more of Lo’s co-workers who work elsewhere within the city.  I think the most fun the boys had was chasing each other – which meant that Jaxson was running around a table and Jenson was just copying him.

A week or two later, we met Jaxson and family at JD Power Equipment in New Albany for their annual Day of Play.  Basically, kids can climb all over the equipment, play with push toys and riding toys inside and outside, a few animals to pet (goats and pigs, I think?) and lots of snacks.

The boys had a ton of fun again – they did more of their own thing this time because there was so much to do, but Jenson actually sat in the huge combine with Jaxson

Both events were a ton of fun, and he talked about them for days.  We’ll definitely have to go back to them next year.  They were way better than the 4th Friday event/car show that we went to in our local downtown where we saw a meth-head pass out in front of the band.  But Jenson got to see an ambulance and firetruck for that!
