What we did this weekend: BUSY!

We had quite a busy, but fun weekend!  It was kind of go, go, go…but all good things.

On Friday Lo grilled pizzas and I made gluten free apple crisp (will post recipe soon because it was great).  Afterwards we met friends at Powell Village Winery for a little while.  Once we got home we just caught up on some shows and then turned in for the night.

Boof had her first (with us) vet appointment on Saturday morning.  She was very barky in the waiting room when she saw other dogs and very whiny in the exam room.  She liked the vet and assistants though, so she was fine with them.  Everything was good, except the vet said she is “carrying extra weight”, which we knew and are working on.  She also needs her teeth cleaned, which we knew because her breath is TERRIBLE!  We’ll wait a few months to get that done because we need to see if the benign lump on her neck goes away.  If not they’ll take that off and clean her teeth at the same time so they don’t have to put her under twice. Look how pitiful she looked in the exam room.  She was all out of sorts.

We (mostly he) worked in the yard for a little while and I tried to do a photo shoot with Boof wearing a breast cancer bandana.  She liked wearing it but getting a good shot wasn’t easy.  This one was funny where she was smiling because she really wanted the treat (carrot):

And I finally got this winner:

Later we went with Chuck and Kelley to get our first live Christmas tree.  We went to a tree farm where you cut it down yourself, so it was fun to pick it out and do all of that stuff.

We decorated it when we got home.  Boof didn’t really know what was going on, but she seemed happy to be around us in the room that we usually have her blocked from.

We picked up some food from Pei Wei, where we’ve never been, but love PF Changs so we figured it would be good since it a sister company or something like that.  I was sent a gift card to try the new Sriracha Chicken dish awhile back, but upon learning that it probably wasn’t gluten free, it wasn’t going to be an option for me.  When we got there though, it was listed at gluten free so I ordered it instead of the spicy chicken.  I liked it – it was very spicy – but I think I’ll order something else next time.  It didn’t have much flavor other than spicy, and while I loved the pineapple in it, I didn’t think the tomatoes or green pepper fit the flavor profile very well.  We’ll definitely be back now that we realized it’s one mile down the road from us.

Our niece Sadie was being baptized on Sunday so we dropped Boof off at Chuck and Kelley’s and headed out of town.  It was a nice mass and baptism service and she was so cute in her dress and very well behaved.  Lo was a witness for the ceremony and it was special for him to be a part of it.

After lunch with the families and drawing our gift exchange names, we headed back to town and picked up Boof and made plans for dinner and movie night.  We went to our favorite sushi place with several friends before heading to the theatre to see Silver Lining Playbook.  It was a cute movie and everyone liked it.  We were initially planning to see Killing Them Softly, but it got some pretty bad reviews (Brad Pitt’s worst movie I guess) so we changed plans.  We switched it up for dinner and movie night since there are quite a few movies we’ve all been wanting to see in the theaters right now.  It worked out perfectly because with the baptism we wouldn’t have had time to make dinner anyway.

Boof is exhausted after seeing “the boys” (Mason and Nash) three days in a row and taking very few naps.  She loves playing with them though and we are so lucky to have friends who love her as there own and will take her for playdates when we need or just when they want to while we’re at work.

Our house smells like Christmas and being busy was a lot of fun, so I can’t complain.  It doesn’t make Monday morning any easier though!
