What we did this weekend: Double Hosting Sunday

On Friday we pretty much just relaxed.  I folded magazine pages to make magazine bowls, we watched lots of tv, Lo made breakfast for dinner, and then we turned in.

Saturday was a sleep in day, which I needed since I didn’t get to the weekend before.  I worked on some blog posts for Living on the Cheap, did some online Christmas shopping (I seriously need to get this shopping finished), and eventually we went to dinner with a group of friends.  It’s a really good local place that has gluten-free pasta, but it doesn’t seem like it’s been doing well lately and our server was kind of a jerk.  Our plan was to go to the Zoo to see the Christmas lights, but it was a little misty and we decided to just hang out at Chuck and Kelley’s.  We went home to get Boof so she could play with the boys and went to their place for some drinks, games, and what I’m pretty sure was some bad dancing.  Boof had a blast with the boys, as usual, but by the time we left, she’d been snoozing on the couch in their basement for at least an hour.  I did manage to snag this reindog picture of her earlier in the night.

I tried not to overdo it that night because we had 2 couples and their combined 3 kids (under age 5) coming over for lunch around noon and we still needed to go to the store for ingredients.  We made Bibimbap and it turned out pretty well.  None of them had met Boof yet, and she enjoyed the kids dropping food her, lol.  We are continuously grateful that she’s such a good dog.  She did so well with the kids and didn’t jump up on them.  She doesn’t care if they pet her or bug her, or if they’re running around.

Once they left I needed a nap to try to get rid of a headache that I had even before I had any drinks the night before (and which I’m sure the drinks didn’t help).  Chuck and Kelley were coming over for Sunday Movie Night.  We’d bought and marinated some really nice fresh tuna for Tuna Poke, which is a raw tuna dish that we all fell in love with that’s from Hawaii.  We just refried some cooked rice that we had made for the bibimbap, and Kelley made some Betty Crocker Gluten Free Brownies that were amazing.  It was my week to pick the movie and we watched “The Great Gatsby” with Robert Redford.  They are remaking the movie and I wanted to see it again before that came out (actually, I couldn’t remember if I ever saw it or if I just read the book a couple of times).  I adore Robert Redford, young and old.  I believe the movie had an average vote of about 4.75 from us.  I would have thought I would have voted it higher than a 5, but it was pretty slow through much of it and since I just read the book again, nothing was a surprise to me.  The movie is pretty true to the book though.

It was another fun weekend and the fun doesn’t look like it’s going to stop for the rest of the year with the holidays coming up!
