This week revolved around sick baby.  After having gone to Urgent Care on Sunday where he was given Zofran, he seemed to get a little better.  I stayed home with him on Monday to be sure, and he only threw up a tiny bit in the morning and otherwise was pretty much himself.  I planned to go back to work on Tuesday, but after nursing him in the morning, he threw up everything.  We made the calls for me to stay home again, and I called the Dr. to get in that day, since he’d been throwing up for several days at this point.  He didn’t have any other symptoms other than vomiting, so the Dr. was pretty sure it wasn’t the flu or any other virus she’s seen going around.  They did a catheter so they could test his urine, and it only really showed that he was starving and dehydrated – both things that were obvious considering he couldn’t eat or drink – I think his weight was 20 lbs that day (down from almost 21 on Sunday).  She sent us for blood work and xrays at Urgent Care, and let us know later that they didn’t show anything unusual.  He was still getting sick on Tuesday, so I let them know I wouldn’t be in again.  On Wednesday we went back for another weight check (19.6 lbs, I believe) and so the doctor could go over the results with us.  She also gave us a prescription for Zofran – earlier in the week she thought that Urgent Care had given us one, but they just gave him one pill while we were there.  The pharmacy was out of Zofran liquid, so they gave him dissolvable pills like he had at Urgent Care.  We thought we’d have to fight him to take them, but he LOVED them.  If he saw his pill bottle in the kitchen, he reach and cry for it, lol.  Zofran junkie.  We spent New Years Eve holding Jenson and hanging out on the couch.  New Years Eve was always a big deal to me, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.  I think he only threw up once on Thursday – we just got things done around the house and watched football.  Friday he went back to the Dr. and had gained a few ounces and was mostly back to himself, so he was finally on the mend.  He was still extra clingy through the weekend, but he was finally over his sickness, and we couldn’t have been more relieved.

Cuddles with my baby, shortly after which he got sick on both of us.  Feeling better for a bit before his nap.

A little light reading.

And some cheesing.  His appetite seemed to be back on Monday, so we thought he was fine.  Yes, he was licking his tray for some reason.

Tuesday he was not so well.  After his Dr. appt. and Urgent Care labwork, we packed some bags in case we needed to head to the hospital that night, depending on the results and if he got any worse.  We had to give him pedialyte and water by syringe because if he drank too much at a time, he’d throw up again.  He was so thirsty and we felt so bad doling his water in 10 ml. increments, but we couldn’t risk him continuing to get sick.  We were afraid to let him sleep in his crib, in case he got sick and we couldn’t hear him, so we moved the pack in play into our room and he slept most of the night in there.

At the Dr. on Wednesday, and napping afterwards.  He holds on to random things when he naps sometimes.  He was feeling a little better thanks to the Zofran.

He was pretty tired and not feeling well again in the evening.  We held him most of the night until we felt okay putting him in his crib around midnight since he hadn’t been sick and was sleeping soundly.

We were putting away the Christmas decorations and I couldn’t believe how much bigger his hand is now, compare to last Christmas.
Sweet boy on the way home from his last Dr. appt.

Obviously feeling better on Friday!  He was trying to climb his walker and played in his wagon for a long time.

He had some seriously adorable nap-head.

Reading a magazine, and checking himself out in my camera.  He loves to play with hats and loot at himself wearing hats.

His appetite was back (and big!).  (and has continued, so we’ll find out if he’s gained the weight back tomorrow)
