Sunday Social – Valentine’s Day

It’s Sunday Social day where Ashley and Neely post questions each week for people to answer on their blogs and a linkup. This week is all about Valentine’s Day.  I don’t find a whole lot of value in this holiday.  I think it’s fun for kids and all of that, but otherwise it just seems like a forced holiday.  My husband doesn’t need a special day to buy me flowers or something else, so we’ve never really celebrated.  I remember my mom buying us something little for Valentine’s Day and that was always nice.  Friends of ours started an annual Vday party, so that’s always a blast.

1. Best Valentines Day you’ve ever had?
Since I haven’t made it of habit of celebrating Valentine’s Day, I’d definitely say last year’s party at our friends house.  It consisted of fondue dinner, creme brulee, and ENTIRELY way to many bottles of wine (and not that many people were drinking wine), and heart stickers all over everyone’s faces. This isn’t even the final collection of bottles because the clock shows it’s only 12-something, so it’s probably just after the rest of our friends left:

Worst Valentines Day you’ve ever had?
Since it’s never been a holiday that I’ve cared about (single or coupled), I don’t have one.

3. What do you plan on doing for Valentine’s Day this year?
On actual Vday, probably nothing.  It falls on a Thursday, so I’m sure we’ll go to yoga after work (my husband does yoga with me and I think that’s awesome).  Other than that, it’ll probably be a normal Thursday night.  The Vday party is on Saturday – so that’ll be the fun night!  (I scheduled this ahead of time, so I’ll report on the party later).

4. Best Valentines Idea if you’re single?
If it’s a holiday that you care about, do something awesome with your friends.  No matter what, don’t feel bad about yourself or sorry for yourself.  Being single can be pretty awesome – it’s way better than being with someone who isn’t right for you just to be with someone.

5. Favorite Valentines Candy?
I’m a bigger Easter candy person (hello, mini cadbury eggs!).  I guess Reese’s pb hearts?  I got some to put on cookies this year for a blog post for Living on the Cheap (along with Dove hearts).
Valentine's Day6. Favorite Valentines Memory from your childhood?
I don’t have any specific memories ties to a year, just vague memories of little gifts from my mom (I suppose technically from my parents, but it’s unlikely my dad even knew she got them), and exchanging Valentine’s at school.
