Baby Watch: Week 12

Week 12 was our first trimester screening and we were nervous, but it was so awesome to see the baby so clearly and everything was measuring normal, so we didn’t feel like we had anything to worry about while we were waiting on the official results.  The screening is optional, and many elect not to have it because it wouldn’t change the course of their pregnancies, but no matter what, we want the most information about our baby and if there’s anything we can be prepared for, we want to know.

(This is a look back on week 12.  I’m currently at 20 weeks, but want to get these all posted in order.)

Week 12: April 2 – April 8

Baby size: Plum

Maternity Clothes: Not for awhile, I think.

Sleep: Don’t need naps as much, but I toss and turn more.

Symptoms:  Still pretty nauseous, though I think that’s lessening, get out of breath at odd times and slightly more than usual

Workouts: Volleyball, elliptical, weights, walking/jogging on treadmill.

Good moments of the week:  Our NT scan (first trimester screening).  We could see the baby SOOO much better and got lots of pictures.  Everything seemed to measure ok – now just waiting on the blood work results.  It definitely looks like a baby now, with identifiable pieces and parts!  We told a few friends this weekend because we were planning to see them already and didn’t want to wait until the next time.  Since the NT scan seemed to go well, we weren’t afraid to start telling, even without the results.

You can see the baby’s hands up by the face and so much more detail!

Movement: Nothing yet

Food cravings: Banana protein pancakes

Food aversions: Nothing specific. I was able to eat more this week – I even had frozen yogurt and it was great!

What I miss: Sleeping through the night

What I’m looking forward to: Our NT scan results.  Since everything appeared okay, I feel pretty good about it.

Milestones:  Definitely feel my uterus above my pubic bone, though just slightly.  Bought a few cloth diapers that were on clearance at Babies R Us.  That store still scares the crap out of me, so I ordered online and picked up in store.  Nothing is organized in a way that makes sense to me.
