Baby Watch: Week 34

Th nursery furniture is finished!!!!  This is incredibly exciting news!  And I’ve painted the trees on the nursery walls!  I could stand to finish out some of the branches and add some leaves, but it’s good enough so far.  The crib arrived, but we aren’t setting it up or putting the rest of the furniture in the room until the carpets are cleaned on Saturday.  I feel SO relieved that this stuff is done and we’ll be able to start setting everything up soon.  I still have to pick up the rest of the canvas bins from the Container Store, but I’m ready to start washing clothing and putting things away once the furniture is in the room.  I felt good this week again, but I think it’s time to slow down my workouts some.  I was pretty beat after my 100 leg workout last week and was having a lot of BH contractions.  I get them throughout the evening anyway, so I’m trying to take it a little easier.

My weekly picture includes a sneak peek of the trees.  The picture below is of another wall of trees.

34 weeks nursery trees

Week 34: September 3 – 9– Canary Melon – Average size: 17.2-18.7 inches, 4.2-5.8 lb.

Maternity Clothes:  All maternity pants except my yoga and sweat pants/capris, combination of maternity tops, regular tops, and Lo’s tees for around the house and workouts.  I’m ready for cooler weather so I can wear my sweaters and jeans.  Being larger than normal, summer clothes aren’t that “fun” to wear and I’d rather be more covered up.  My maternity Steelers shirt came in just in time for the first game (thanks Summy!)!  It’s unfortunate that they played so horribly – it’s definitely a rebuilding/injury recovery year for them.  I was working around the house, so I just posed in this shirt and then changed into sweats and another steelers shirt in which my belly kept hanging out of.

Sleep: I’ve been waking up a little more than before now – mostly to get comfortable or to get up to pee.  I have to change sides I’m sleeping on 3-4 times a night now.

Symptoms:  Lots of Braxton Hicks contractions, tons of large baby movement, which I call wolfing-out.  If you’ve ever seen the original movie Teen Wolf when he first turns into the Wolf in his bathroom at home, his face bubbles out all over the place…that’s what my stomach looks like.  I’m usually fairly uncomfortable after I eat, even if I eat a small amount.  I feel like I need to recline back for a bit to stretch out some.  In the evenings that’s easy enough, but after breakfast and lunch I just have to deal with it (though my work chair leans back some).

Workouts:  I took it easy considering the BH contraction increase, so I did yoga, 100 leg workout, and elliptical.

Good moments of the week:  We had another 3 day weekend because we had appointments on Friday.  I had a doctor’s appointment and everything was good.  My next appointment in two weeks will start to measure dilation and baby position.  We checked out some pediatricians and settled on an office that we are going to use. We got a lot done, but also got to relax a bit.  Lo and Chuck did their Nascar driving on Saturday, which was a little scary, but they had a lot of fun.  Lo’s mom came on Sunday to help him polycoat the nursery furniture since I couldn’t help (the fumes) and we’ve never done it before.  Everything turned out great!  She also brought a bookshelf that was Lo’s when he was young and they repainted that too.  It was already painted white, but needed touchup.  While they were doing that, I painted the rest of the trees in the nursery (minus some branches and leaves).

Food cravings:  Nothing really.  We were still so busy in the evenings that we just made/ate things that were easy.

What I miss: Sleeping though the night, wearing normal clothes, not having my belly rest on my thighs when I sit down, being able to do advanced moves in yoga, pushing myself in workouts.

What I’m looking forward to:  Getting the carpets cleaned and moving all of the furniture into the nursery.  We picked a newborn photographer (a friend of Lo’s from college) and she was offering a free mini-maternity session, so even though we already had a few pictures taken, we’re going to get these done on Friday (she’s really good, so I think we’ll get some better ones).  Saturday is pretty open, so we’ll see what we get into – the Buckeyes have a night game.  We have a baby shower with Lo’s family on Sunday, and it’ll be great to see everyone.

Milestones:  Nursery furniture is all refinished!
