Weekly Workout: Jan. 19 – 25

Another long weekend due to MLK Jr. Day = short workout week for me.  I know having a long weekend is no excuse, but I go ahead and use it anyway.  When it’s nicer outside, we’ll be out and about more on the weekends.  Right now, it’s too stinking cold!  We took Boof to the dog park on Sunday, hoping to at least get her some exercise.  She hardly interacted with any other dogs.  She just sniffed every tree and blade of grass.  There was another Puggle with her same coloring that was even bigger than Boof!  Kobe mostly kept to herself too, so we compared their anti-social behaviors with her owner.
She also got to go to daycare on Thursday because it was bitterly cold this week – like single digits – so she wasn’t going for long walks, if any.  She’s way more social and playful in daycare than in the dog park.  I guess she needs to take some time to get used to the other dogs.  In other workout news, I busted Lo heading to get Jimmy John’s at lunch instead of going to the gym.  I took my lunch later than normal, and as I was walking back into work, he was walking out in his work clothes.  It was pretty funny.

Saturday and Sunday, January 19 – 21

  • Nothing:  I don’t usually do much on the weekend….this weekend wasn’t any different, except it was longer, so it was even more of nothing.

Tuesday, January 22

  • Noon – Nothing:  I had an orthodontist appointment to tighten my retainer, so I didn’t get to take lunch.
  • 9 p.m. – Co-ed Volleyball:  We only won 1-3, but they were mostly good games.

Wednesday, January 23

  • Noon – Most of the P90X Leg Workout: I did 25 of each of the exercises, plus 5 burpees between every 2 exercises.  One-leg squats with leg on chair, one leg dead lifts, reverse lunges, calf raises, squats with toe raises, walking lunges, plie squats, barbell deadlifts (plus 10 clean and jerks), wall sits, and one or two others that I’m forgetting because I was winging it.

Thursday, January 24

  • Noon – 45 minutes elliptical:  I was quite sore from the leg workout.  I meant to do some shoulder lifts, but I forgot.
  • 5:30 – Capital Club Yoga:  This was a pretty tough class again.  We did more bindings and balances though, and I really enjoy those.  I realized I haven’t done a headstand in months – I wonder if I’m going to be able to do one when I try.

Friday, January 25

  • Noon – Capital Club YogaI’m scheduling this post before my workout, so yoga is the plan.  I’ll update if I fail for some reason.  Friday’s classes are always a little more challenging (but not as much at Thursday).

Wish us luck this weekend!  We are REALLY hoping to buy a car.  We are so ready to buy, we just can’t find the exact one that we want.  I think we’ve pretty much settled on a Ford Fusion.  We had no intention of getting a Ford, or even an American car at that, but this is the only car we don’t have any complaints about.  Plus we can get a fully loaded one for the price of a base Nissan Altima, which is the only other type of car left on our list.  I’m so tired of looking at car and test driving!  I did get to hold hands with Jack Hanna at one of the dealerships though.
