Workout Wednesday: Last Week of Challenge!

Posting on Thursday because Wednesday was Foodie Pen Pal Reveal Day, so I decided to include Wednesday’s workout, which was the LAST DAY of the Halloween Challenge Workout!  As a reminder, here’s the challenge that started on Sunday, October 7 and went until Halloween. I found the easiest way to figure out how many to do is to multiply the started number (5,4,3,2,1) by the day of the challenge – 5 squats x day 5 = 25 squats, etc.

It was much harder in this last week!  I always hated the pushups but am impressed with feeling much stronger with them, considering a year ago my elbow/arm was still fairly useless and I called it my dead arm.  I hate the lunges because they take so long and I have to be careful with my knee.  It’s been bothering me again from when I made that stupid dive in volleyball.  It feels the same (back of the knee pain and like it doesn’t move correctly), but not nearly as bad as right after I hurt it.  I’d happily do the squats and burpees all day long (well, maybe not the burpees, but I have done 240 burpees (plus 240 squats) in one workout and it was fine).  The situps weren’t too bad, though.

I’m so glad that I stuck to this plan and only skipped one day – which meant I had to do double the next day, which sucked.  The final workout: 125 squats, 100 lunges, 75 full situps, 50 pushups (on my knees), and 25 burpees took me less than 17 minutes, which totally goes to show that even when you swear you don’t have time for a workout, you totally do.  Trust me, my heart was racing and I was sweating by the end of the workout (burpees will do that to you), so it’s good for a cardio burst and strength training.  Shout out to Sheena for creating this challenge on Facebook!

In other news, we “interviewed” some rescued foster dogs this week and have asked to do a trial one with one of them, so that’s exciting!  She was super-excited to smell all over our house, so she didn’t interact with us a ton except a quick game of rope tug, so they suggested that we do a trial or foster-to-adopt.  The other was one was just as cute and excited, and he and I even had some bonding once he settled, but then he tried to bite me while we were playing.  He’s a little thing, so it wouldn’t have hurt me, but he has resource guarding issues and I’m not sure we are ready to deal with that for our first dog since our dog will be around other dogs/cats/babies.  Lo really doesn’t like growling dogs, and he did a bit of that while we were playing too.  He was so well trained otherwise and would sit as soon as he was told, but does chew a lot of things as well apparently.  He did mark our tablecloth, lol, but that wasn’t a major issue.  But he was so cute and he just stared at me for 5 minutes while I was petting him.  I’m pretty sure he was staring into my soul…or trying to steal it!  I’m super excited for the one that we are hoping to get, it just breaks my heart a little that the other wasn’t right for us too.  But it’s probably better because we would have ended up with two…  Wish us luck!

Wednesday, October 24

  • Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 18: 90 squats, 72 lunges, 54 situps, 36 pushups, and 18 burpees.

Thursday, October 25

  • Noon – I didn’t spin, but I don’t remember why, so I did the challenge and then the elliptical.
    Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 19: 95 squats, 76 lunges, 57 situps, 26 pushups, and 19 burpees
  • Capital Club Vinyasa Yoga:  Skipped yoga because my knee was bothering me quite a bit the day before and there were some things that I wanted to get done after work.  Instead I spent time playing with my Halloween decorations.

Friday, October 26

  • 3:30 p.m. – Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 20: 100 squats, 80 lunges, 60 situps, 40 pushups, and 20 burpees.  I had to hurry and do these before getting ready for our friends’ rehearsal dinner.

Saturday, October 27

  • Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 21: Oops, I was a little hungover in the morning and then was at a wedding/reception/after party from 3 p.m. – 3 a.m., so I had to do it on Sunday.

Sunday, October 28

  • 4 p.m. – Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 21:  105 squats, 84 lunges, 63 situps, 42 pushups, and 21 burpees.
  • 8 p.m. – Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 22: 110 squats, 88 lunges, 66 situps, 44 pushups, and 22 burpees.  I hate these pushups.  The next morning I was feeling some twinges in my elbow, so 86 pushups in one day was definitely too many.

Monday, October 29

  • Noon – No lunch; to the dermatologist’s office for a yearly (…er, 18 month, oops) skin check.  Lo is going for the first time too.  He used to avoid the sun, but now doesn’t hate it as much and with our yearly or twice yearly beach trips and his pale skin, it’s time for him to start going.  I’ve had pre-cancerous spots removed and have a birthmark on my scalp that they are watching (actually, they’d prefer I get that removed too), plus my dad had melonoma on his cheek (I had been telling him it was cancer for months before he finally got it checked out – luckily it hadn’t spread and was treated fairly easily, considering melonoma can be a deadly skin cancer)…so skin checks are IMPORTANT!
  • Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 23:  115 squats, 92 lunges, 69 situps, 46 pushups, and 23 burpees.  Almost done!

Tuesday, October 30

  • Noon – Capital Club Yoga
  • Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 24:  120 squats, 96 lunges, 72 situps, 48 pushups, and 24 burpees.
  • 7:15 p.m. – Dublin Reverse Co-ed Volleyball:  I always get a workout from this league since it’s women-hit.

Wednesday, October 31

  • Sheena J’s Halloween Challenge Day 25 FINAL DAY: 125 squats, 100 lunges, 75 situps, 50 pushups, and 25 burpees.  DONE!

Hope you had a happy Halloween!
